I have been working on this recipe for a couple of weeks — and I FINALLY think I’ve found the perfect combo for fudgy, chocolatey, crave-able brownie batter like oats! If you’re looking for a sweet tooth satisfier that you can dive into right away, stop your search, you’ve found it!
The best part about these quick breakfast — you only need five simple ingredients that I KNOW you already have on hand! I am all about recreating delicious fan-favorite dishes into healthier versions with as much whole food ingredients as possible, and this simple recipe is no exception!
PLUS you can make this gorgeous bowl of oats custom to YOU. Pick toppings you love (don’t worry I added some for inspo below), add extra cacao for a more chocolatey bowl, and switch up the protein powder used! If you’re looking for a deep chocolate brownie taste, I recommend using a chocolate flavored protein powder. I used the new Chocolate Collagen Peptides from Vital Proteins, and they were literally perfect! You can also make this bowl as sweet as you like as well. Add in a little extra maple syrup if you like a sweeter bowl, or if your protein powder is not sweetened, or if you like a more bittersweet chocolate taste — leave it out or only add a touch!

Brownie Batter Oatmeal

INGREDIENTS
1/2 c rolled or quick oats
1 Tbsp. chia seeds
1-2 Tbsp. cacao powder
1 scoop chocolate protein powder, I used Vital Proteins Chocolate Collagen Peptides
1-3 tsp. maple syrup
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine oats, chia seeds, cacao powder, and protein powder into a bowl or microwave safe Tupperware.
Stir to combine.
Boil water and pour 1/2 -1 cup of the water into the bowl and stir again to combine. *If you like a thicker oatmeal, add less water. For thinner oatmeal, add more!
Drizzle in maple syrup and stir again.
Allow to set until water is absorbed and cool enough to eat
