Basic Chicken Bone Broth
GETTING PRETTY BASIC OVER HERE!
Bone broth is taking the nutrition world by storm + now you can get in on the trend! Whether you’re looking for some health benefits by adding broth to your diet (see my Bone Broth 101 for the info!) or just want to save a little money on stock — this basic bone broth recipe is as simple, easy + delicious as it gets!
With only 8 ingredients in the base recipe — mostly of items you already have at home — whipping up a pot of bone broth is easy to do when planning for the week! I started making my own bone broth after buying rotisserie chicken that we were using the meat for salads, bowls + other meal prepped items, and it seemed like such as waste to throw away the bones in the trash after we broke it down! Simply by saving the bones, tossing them into our Instant Pot + boiling them down, we haven’t needed to buy stock or broth for soups in months!
Check out my basic recipe here, and a couple ways to change it + make it your own (more veggies = more nutrients!), as well as ideas of how to use it + what to do to store it for long term use!

2 inches fresh ginger
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
10 cups distilled water
salt + pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
Place chicken bones, onion, celery, lemons, and ginger into your cooking pot (Instant Pot or stove top).
Add in the water. *Adjust wanter amount as needed depending on the fill line of your cooking pot. Keep to 1 inch below the line.

Set your pot to cook!
For Instant Pot - Place + lock lid. Set to cook on high for 2 hours. Allow to come to pressure + cook the entire time with the vent closed. Allow pressure to dissipate, releasing the vent after 1 hour to finish releasing the pressure.
For Stove Top cooking - Bring content of pot to a boil over high heat on the stove. Lower heat to low to simmer for 8-12 hours, covered.
After cooking is completed, strain out solid leftovers + discard. Store broth in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
TIP: Want to skim off some additional fat? Strain your broth again after cooling + fat has risen to the top of the container. Return to refrigerator for storage.
Enjoy in so many ways!
